The BECA Committee is an all-volunteer organization with minimal administrative, event and organizational costs. Generous donations of time expertise and creativity help raise the much needed thousands of dollars annually used to support the educational goals of the La Mision students. BECA raises scholarship funds through several annual social events. In addition to their entertainment value, these events are designed to enlighten and encourage public support of the educational needs of the La Mision community. The continued support of LMPOA members and friends has benefited local youth for almost 20 years. The scholarship program has made a calculable difference in the lives of many your children entering the higher education system in Mexico. When we help to promote local students in their quest for excellence we all benefit. BECA students can be the future leaders of the La Mision community and, perhaps, the Republic of Mexico. We are privileged to live here and share in their success.
The Rosarito Friends of the Library supports the five local public libraries in many ways – by providing art and craft supplies for childrens’ activities, by purchasing new Spanish language childrens’ books, by providing needed equipment, and by organizing and funding reading programs for local children. Recent reading programs have featured reading contests with prizes of new bicycles, scooters, skates, etc. for kids in grade three and up, and reading circles with storytelling and art/craft projects for younger children – anything to encourage children to visit and use the libraries and to develop a love of reading and learning. Our upcoming program, at the Colonia Morelos public library, will feature readings about Mexican heroes and the creation of individual personal family histories by each 5th and 6th grade participant. Winners will receive prizes, and all participants will attend a gala Fiesta with live entertainment, awards, door prizes, hot dogs and goodies at the end of the program. Contributions from individuals and organizations will allow the Friends of the Library to serve more children and to have a greater impact on the role of the libraries in local life.
Who we are
La Misión Children’s Fund (LMCFund) is a U.S. 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit, all volunteer organization offering resources to address extreme poverty and limited access to basic human necessities experienced by children and youth of Baja California, Mexico.
What we do
Through our various programs, we strive principally to provide fundamental necessities for at-risk children and youth, including food, shelter, clothing, education and medical care.
How we do it
La Misión Children’s Fund solicits donations in the form of money, resources and supplies. Additionally, we partner with volunteer organizations to develop programs that either sustain ongoing projects or address critical needs. Our goal to support fundamental needs for at-risk children and youth in Baja California comes out of a compassionate view of our surrounding community and those who do not have basic opportunities needed to sustain life.
Los Angelitos Orphanage is a children’s home that provides underprivileged children the opportunity to experience secure living conditions, nurtured upbringing, schooling, and a pleasant family life. All are either orphans or abandoned children that would otherwise be living on the streets of Tijuana. We are a new orphanage located in the Tijuana area and primarily serve children that are under the jurisdiction of the Mexican Government (Ward of the Court, DIF). We have been in operation for eight years and currently have over 35 children ranging in age from 1 year to 18 years old. Currently there is only a girl’s dorm, but plans are in the making to construct a boy’s dorm as funding permits.
